Blackberry Hot Sauce

This hot sauce is bursting with summer flavor. Juicy, tart blackberries and bright cilantro combined with fresh jalapeños make for a delicious spicy condiment you’ll want to put on everything! It goes great with tacos, quesadillas, and eggs. It also makes a great accompaniment to charcuterie boards. Stir it into cream cheese to make a flavorful dip that pairs perfectly with tortilla chips for a simple summer appetizer.

Ingredients:

  • 2 jalapeño peppers, deseeded
  • 3 cups blackberries
  • 2 small red onions, sliced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Makes 32 fl. oz (4 cups) of hot sauce

Directions:

Add the jalapeños, blackberries, onion, and water to a small pot. Simmer on medium heat for 15 minutes. Then let cool.

Add the cooked blackberries, pepper, and onions to a blender with the vinegar, salt, honey & cilantro. Blend until smooth. Then spoon into jars and store in the refrigerator.

Method
 

  1. Add the jalapeños, blackberries, onion, and water to a small pot. Simmer on medium heat for 15 minutes.
  2. Remove the pan from heat and let cool.
  3. Add the cooked blackberries, pepper, and onions to a blender with the vinegar, salt, honey & cilantro. Blend until smooth.
  4. Pour the sauce into jars and store in the refrigerator.

Notes

This recipe makes 32 fl. oz (4 cups) of hot sauce
