Goldenrod Iced Latte

Last Updated on: July 6, 2025

Goldenrod is the common name for some 120 Solidago species. These herbaceous perennials have bright yellow flowers and are native mostly to North America, though there are some species found in other parts of the world, as well.

While often considered a weed, goldenrod has many benefits. Antioxidant rich goldenrod has been shown to have even higher levels of these health boosting constituents than green tea, a beverage that it renowned for its antioxidant content.

The tea can also be utilized for numerous acute issues such as colds, sore throats, urinary tract & bladder infections, and for easing symptoms of seasonal allergies.

Goldenrod tea is also quite pleasant tasting, making it a lovely addition to an iced tea latte. Sip this cool drink on a hot, late summer day.

Goldenrod Iced Latte

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp dried goldenrod
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • milk of choice

Equipment

  • 1 kettle
  • 1 heat proof container to steep over a cup of tea
  • 1 strainer
  • 1 large glass or 2 small glasses

Method

  1. Pour a little more than a cup of boiling water over the golden rod in a heat proof container. Cover and let steep for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Then strain the herbs out of the tea. You will have about a cup of tea after straining.
  3. Stir in the honey.
  4. Fill one large glass or two smaller glasses with ice.
  5. Pour the sweetened tea over the ice, filling the glass about 3/4 full.
  6. Top off with milk. I used fresh, raw goat milk from our goat, but you’ll want to use whatever type of milk you like best.
