Rosemary has long been appreciated for its aromatic and medicinal qualities. It is rich in antioxidants and has been used to boost cardiovascular and digestive health. Studies have shown that rosemary helps to improve memory and may be beneficial in improving mental performance in elderly individuals.
This tasty sparkling water is a lovely way to enjoy the flavor, and potentially some of the health benefits of rosemary.
To prepare this beverage, you will first need to make a simple syrup.
Rosemary Simple Syrup
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup of rosemary leaf
Makes enough syrup for about 4 drinks
Directions:
Combine the water, sugar, and rosemary leaf in a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil and simmer for about a minute. Remove the pan from the heat, cover, and let steep for 30 minutes. Then pour the syrup through a mesh strainer into a clean glass bottle or jar.
Rosemary Orange Sparkling Water
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp rosemary simple syrup
- 1/4 cup cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup chilled sparkling water
Makes one beverage
Directions:
Pour rosemary simple syrup & orange juice (I use fresh squeezed) into a glass. Add chilled sparkling water, and ice if desired. Garnish with an orange slice and a sprig of fresh rosemary.
Relax with this refreshing drink after a long day in the garden or serve at summer potlucks and get togethers. Enjoy!
